J.S. MacCutcheon -
No one will pull any punches on Ralph Nader. He will be on top of the
corporate criminals and will promote necessary regulations to stimulate a
thriving economy. He will most likely support revitalization of our anti-trust
laws to reverse the trend toward repressive monopolies such as WalMart and
Microsoft that have mushroomed since Reagan eviscerated those laws.
Further, he will work to reinstall REAL accounting procedures so that we can
stop the roller coaster of stock manipulation (and thereby, thievery) of the
parasitic Enrons.
He will also work to reinvigorate patent protections for the real inventors in
our society, not the pharmaceutical companies who reconfigure the same
products and continue monopolies on medicines. He will work to protect the
little inventor from being overrun by large corporations, and also make it
easier for them financially and time wise to acquire patents. We are
stagnating because of the current system.
It is the rules of the game that establish the game, and currently the game is
as rigged as it was in the 19th century, with far more serious consequences
because a company has more immediate extensive reach throughout the
world. You know, a slogan the Democrats might consider is: It's the rules of
the game, Stupid!

Tim Jouet -
boy, the three people who commented so negatively on Nader prior to the election last year sure look stupid now. How many votes did he "steal" from your beloved Kerry? Were you referring to the same John Kerry who has voted to fund George Bush's killing at every turn (and who wanted more troops in Iraq) or was there some anti-war/corporate-donation(he's a Heinz too!) Kerry you were fantasizing about?

Darrell Lewis -
The disgraceful tactics of Nader during this campaign has forever tarnished his reputation and un-done all his previous good works

You know, I really like Nader's longtime record of activism. We owe most of our consumer safety and right-to-know laws to him. But considering him for a cabinet position in a Democratic administration? No way. He's not a Democrat. I will retract my objection to him being considered only if he drops out of the Presidential race and endorses Kerry.

Once we win this election Nader needs to crawl in a dark hole and lick himself for the next 20 years.
Appointment to a position in the Kerry administration? You are friggin' kidding me! He hates the Democratic Party so much, he can sit on the outside and watch all the good work we are going to do.
This bastard gave us Bush and is trying to do it again. I know he has an absurdly large ego, but Bush is literally killing people. C'mon Ralph, you know what you are doing is wrong.

Obama's neglected base
Paul Krugman speaks for many, I'd guess, in writing of disappointment among progressives about President Obama. Why he asks, does he continue to alienate friends while attempting to woo people who'll never stop hating him. He concludes, though, with a pragmatic assessment that mirrors the situation facing Arkansas voters this cycle (insert Lincoln for Obama in the following): Just to be clear ...

Stumbling Toward a Bleak Horizon
Editors Note: The political horizon looks bleak: Republicans are convinced their strategy of sabotage and obstruction will put them back in charge of Congress in November; the Obama administration has squandered precious time in a quixotic search for bipartisanship; and the American Left is back to Ralph Naders old formulation seeing not a dimes worth of difference between Republicans and ...
